Due to continued growth within its Litigation Group, the firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join its dynamic team. Your New Role As a Litigation Legal Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to busy litigators handling a variety of civil and commercial litigation matters. Working closely with lawyers, clients, court staff, and external stakeholders, you will play a critical role in ensuring files are managed efficiently and deadlines are consistently met. Key responsibilities include: Preparing, drafting, revising, and formatting legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, motion materials, and court filings. Managing litigation files from opening through to resolution. Coordinating discoveries, mediations, pre-trials, hearings, motions, and trials. Maintaining lawyers' calendars and managing critical deadlines. Preparing and filing documents through the Ontario Courts' electronic filing systems. Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, experts, court offices, and third-party service providers. Organizing and maintaining physical and electronic file materials. Reviewing documents for accuracy, formatting, and compliance with court requirements. Monitoring limitation periods and ensuring adherence to the Rules of Civil Procedure. Providing general administrative and litigation support as required. What You'll Need to Succeed To be successful in this role, you will possess: A Legal Assistant diploma or equivalent education. A minimum of 3 years of litigation legal assistant experience within a law firm. Strong knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure. Experience supporting lawyers in civil and/or commercial litigation matters. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel. Experience with document management software and electronic court filing platforms. Exceptional organizational and time-management skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to prioritize competing deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
