Criminal Defence Lawyer
This is an excellent opportunity to join our Ottawa based criminal defence team. We represent clients charged with all types of criminal offences. Our practice includes trials and appeals. Appeals include matters in the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Your duties will include interviewing clients, research, conducting pre-trial meetings, bail hearings, guilty pleas, trials and assisting on complex matters. You will also be part of our appellate practice and be involved in preparing first drafts of factums. You will do all this in a supportive environment designed to allow you to flourish.
Qualifications
- JD degree
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Up to two years experience in criminal law
- Recent graduates who will be called to the bar this spring/summer are welcome to apply
- Must be able to demonstrate an interest in criminal law/social justice
- Excellent writing skills essential
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Ability to speak French is an asset but not essential
