Your future role on our team

BBA has an established solid business in the Energy and Chemicals markets business and wants to strengthen its position in the oil and gas sector across Canada. In this leadership role, the director will be responsible for developing oil and gas opportunities and projects. The director will leverage his or her expertise, knowledge of the industry, client relationships and engineering experience to achieve BBA’s objectives below. This position’s focus will be to grow BBA’s Oil and Gas business line.

Strategic planning

  • Provide market review and analysis.
  • Review and update the Oil and Gas development strategy and action plan.
  • Identify target clients towards building a sustainable client portfolio balanced between repeat business and capital expenditure projects.
  • Recommend future potential strategic resources/firms that can complement in-house expertise.
  • Support the development and tracking of client/project location "logistics/geography" in view of being a sustained global service provider with preferred low-risk clients.

Business development

  • Actively contribute to business development
  • Position the firm for upcoming opportunities, generate RFPs and develop pursuit/capture strategies.
    Develop commercial / pricing strategies needed to win opportunities.
  • Develop and expand client relationships.
  • Manage client accounts, ensure a coordinated client management process,
  • Identify any capability gaps and strategic partner/teaming requirements needed to win.
  • Cross-sell services across divisions and business lines to optimize client engagement.
  • Effectively track and manage opportunities using BBA’s opportunity database management system.
  • Develop a "3-Year Backlog Projection" (by quarter) for regular review every 6 months.
  • Present and provide exposure to potential new clients and expand relationships with existing clients.

Proposals

  • Review RFPs and steer the proposal execution plan and deliverables, using elements established in the pursuit strategy, in the direction needed to win.
  • Support proposal preparation through creative thinking and alternative approaches.
  • Review proposals to ensure that RFP requirements are met (technical and commercial) and that the pricing strategy iscompetitive.
  • Provide assistance as a senior advisor during the proposal/award process and throughout the project life cycle.

Operations

  • Identify, assess and hire key competencies particular to the Oil and Gas sector that are needed to perform the work to a high quality and expand markets.
  • Oversee delivery of projects and act as Sponsor and/or Engineer of Record for selected projects.
  • Mentor young/future potential lead engineers within the organization.
  • Support succession planning and identify strategic hires who will lead the business in the future.
  • Take on the role of Project/Study Manager and/or Project Sponsor for strategic clients.

Overview of certifications and job requirements

  • Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree from a recognized university
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry, operations, consulting engineering, business development and project execution (Chemical Engineering – Gas treating, Gas Processing and Refining processes; Mechanical Engineering – Pressure vessels, piping and/or rotating equipment)
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada (eg, APEGA, EGBC, PEO or OIQ) - Mandatory
  • Experience in equipment selection, capital cost and operating cost estimates
  • Available to travel to domestic or international destinations is required
  • ASSET: Budgeting, estimating and scheduling experience, with financial modelling skills
  • ASSET: Experience in resource assessment
  • ASSET: Bilingual (English and French).
