PRACTICE AREAS The successful candidate will develop exposure across ME Law's full litigation portfolio, with particular emphasis on commercial disputes and a growing focus on financial litigation and International Arbitration Matters Commercial Litigation Injunction & Emergency Proceedings Financial Litigation & Banking Disputes Receivership, Insolvency & Restructuring Investment & Securities-Related Matters Enforcement Proceedings Shareholder & Corporate Disputes International Arbitration Estate & Trust Litigation Cross-Border & Multi-Jurisdictional Disputes Real Estate Litigation Appeals & Administrative Tribunals Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will play a integral role in supporting the firm’s litigation practice and will be responsible for managing a broad range of matters including: Assisting counsel with the preparation of pleadings, motion records, application records, affidavits, and other court materials Prepare Affidavits of Documents, productions, undertakings charts, and discovery materials and related litigation document Filing and serving court documents in accordance with the Rules of Civil Procedure and applicable practice directions Coordinating examinations for discovery, hearings, mediations, motions and other litigation events Maintaining well-organized litigation files and proactively monitoring limitation periods and procedural deadlines Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, experts and other stakeholders as required Providing day-to-day litigation support to counsel and contributing to the efficient management and progression of files Qualifications Minimum of two (2) years of experience in civil litigation as a Law Clerk or Paralegal Law Clerk or Paralegal diploma or certificate from a recognized institution Strong knowledge of Ontario civil litigation procedures and the Rules of Civil Procedure Demonstrated ability to manage multiple files, competing priorities and time-sensitive deadlines with a high degree of organization Excellent legal drafting, written communication and attention to detail Proficiency with legal practice management software (Cosmolex or similar) Compensation & Benefits Salary of $55,000 – $90,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications Performance-based bonus opportunities Health and dental benefits following six months of employment Professional development and ongoing learning opportunities Opportunity to work closely with experienced litigators on sophisticated and complex matters Meaningful responsibility and opportunities for professional growth within a growing litigation practice APPLY IN CONFIDENCE Interested candidates are invited to submit their curriculum vitae and cover letter outlining their relevant experience and interest in the position.
