Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Lawyer position located in Lacombe, AB. The Lawyer will provide legal advice, draft and review documents, and represent clients in negotiations, hearings, and court proceedings as appropriate to the firm’s practice areas. Daily responsibilities include meeting with clients to understand their needs, conducting legal research, preparing legal opinions, and maintaining accurate case files and documentation. The role involves collaborating with colleagues and support staff, managing deadlines, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards. The Lawyer will also support business development by nurturing client relationships and participating in community and professional activities.
Qualifications Licensed to practice law in Alberta, with membership in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta. Experience in one or more relevant practice areas (e.g., family law, real estate, wills and estates, civil litigation, or business law). Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills, including the ability to draft clear contracts, pleadings, and legal correspondence. Effective client service abilities, including active listening, clear communication, and the capacity to explain complex legal concepts in accessible language. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple files, meet deadlines, and work independently on-site. Professional integrity and judgment, with commitment to confidentiality, ethics, and high standards of practice. Proficiency with legal practice management software and standard office applications (e.g., word processing, document management, and calendaring tools). Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school; prior experience in a law firm or legal practice setting is an asset.
