Intermediate/ Senior US Tax Associate
About the role
Position Overview We are seeking an Intermediate or Senior U.S. Tax Associate to join our expanding U.S. Tax team. This role is ideal for an experienced public accounting professional looking to deepen their expertise in U.S. and cross-border taxation while working alongside industry-leading tax professionals. The successful candidate will prepare and review complex U.S. tax filings, conduct technical research, and collaborate directly with clients on a variety of cross-border tax matters.
Responsibilities Prepare and review U.S. individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and estate tax returns. Prepare Forms 1040, 1040-NR, 1120, 1120-F, 1065, 5471, 5472, 8621, FinCEN 114 (FBAR), 3520, and 3520-A. Research U.S. federal and international tax matters, including PFIC, GILTI, and Subpart F reporting. Assist with cross-border tax planning and advisory engagements for Canadian and U.S. clients. Respond to IRS and state tax authority correspondence. Communicate directly with clients to gather information and provide tax guidance. Review work prepared by junior team members (Senior level). Mentor and support junior staff while contributing to the continued growth of the U.S. Tax practice. Maintain technical knowledge of evolving U.S. tax legislation and reporting requirements.
Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Intermediate: 2–4 years of U.S. tax experience in public accounting.
Senior: 4–6+ years of U.S. tax experience with experience reviewing returns and mentoring staff.
Strong experience preparing U.S. individual and corporate tax returns. Knowledge of cross-border tax issues and international reporting requirements. CPA designation, CPA candidate, U.S. CPA, or EA designation is considered an asset. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
