UNDERWRITING GOVERNANCE MANAGER, SPECIALTY INSURANCE TORONTO Reporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP), Specialty Insurance, the Underwriting Governance Manager is responsible for the integrity, consistence and control of underwriting documentation and practices across our Canadian and US operations. You will own the policy document libraries end to end, oversee the monthly underwriting exception process and help shape the Standard Operating Procedures and best practices that keep the department running smoothy. It is a role for someone who is process driven and able to think beyond how things are to shape how things should be. As an integral member of the team, you will bring: An innovative mindset for delivery through solutions An entrepreneurial, self-motivated approach with a collaborative, team-first spirit A demonstrated passion for excellence and a keen attention to detail Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong written and verbal communication The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities Proven analytical and conceptual thinking, with sound and flexible judgement when resolving problems A capacity to synthesize information and implement solutions, exercising flexible and sound judgment Strong execution and planning skills A reputation as a trusted advisor who adds value as a partner, both internally and externally Responsibilities include: Document Library — Canada Own all policy forms, including applications, endorsements, policies, and indexes Maintain and format the manuscript library Maintain the underwriting guidelines library on the shared drive and SharePoint Update underwriting authority letters as required, collaborating with the internal Support Desk to keep authorities current Ensure all forms are implemented into Enterprise, and notify the Enterprise team of any new, modified, or retired documents Work with the Marketing team to review all Specialty Insurance documents for consistency and formatting Maintain the document library for marketing forms in both English and French Provide general support to the VP, Product Development on formatting for new policy wordings and endorsements. Document Library — US Own all policy forms, including applications, endorsements, policies, and indexes Ensure all forms are implemented into Enterprise, and notify the Enterprise team of any new, modified, or retired documents Other duties: Manage the monthly underwriting exception report: review flagged exceptions, resolve items where possible, and escalate matters to the SVP, Specialty Insurance as necessary. Support the SVP, Specialty Insurance with the periodic review and implementation of departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines. Work closely with the VP Product Leaders on the annual Best Practice Review, reporting key findings to SVP, Specialty Insurance for action. Act as business partner between Specialty Insurance department and Internal Audit function. Provide support and back-up to Internal Audit team as requested. Qualifications: 7+years experience in Underwriting, Underwriting Control, or an Underwriting Support function. A post-secondary education, a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset, given the bilingual document work involved. Proficiency with document formatting and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, SharePoint); experience with policy administration systems such as Enterprise is an asset. Location: Downtown Toronto – Hybrid – 4 days per week in office Salary: The expected salary in this position is within the range of $90,000 - $120,000 This salary range reflects the expected base compensation for the role across Canada. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and scope of responsibilities. Trisura provides this range in good faith in accordance with applicable legislation.
