About the role

Firm is Mississauga-based boutique commercial litigation law firm that has been in business since 1976.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Litigation Associate to join our growing legal team. The ideal candidate will bring strong civil litigation experience, with a demonstrated focus on construction law matters. You will play a key role in advising and representing a diverse client base that includes owners, general contractors, subcontractors, architects, and consultants involved in complex construction projects and disputes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle a broad range of construction litigation matters, including disputes related to:

  • Tendering and procurement processes

  • Construction deficiencies

  • Contract breaches

  • Liens and trust claims

  • Negligent design and workmanship

  • Delay claims and payment disputes

  • Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings

  • Act as counsel in mediations and arbitrations, with opportunities to act as a mediator if qualified

  • Draft, review, and advise on construction-related contracts, including:

  • Design-build agreements

  • Stipulated sum prime contracts and subcontracts

  • Construction management contracts

  • P3 agreements and tender/RFP documents

  • Provide strategic risk assessment and legal advice to clients at all stages of the construction project lifecycle

  • Mentor junior associates and contribute to business development initiatives

Qualifications

  • LL.B. or J.D. and licensed to practice law in Ontario (or relevant jurisdiction)
  • Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation experience, with a strong focus or interest in construction law
  • Proven track record in managing litigation files independently from start to resolution
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of the Construction Act, lien legislation, and relevant rules of procedure
  • Experience working with a broad range of clients, including contractors, engineers, architects, and developers
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
