About the role
The African Canadian Development & Prevention Network is seeking volunteer lawyers or notaries to lead free, community-based legal information workshops as part of our partnership with Éducaloi, Quebec's legal information organization. No prep from scratch required — Éducaloi provides ready-to-use presentation materials and support.
What you'll do: Deliver one plain-language legal information session (60–90 minutes) to community members. Ready made materials as your guide ,no need to create content from scratch Answer general audience questions in an accessible, non-legal-advice format
Upcoming session dates (tentative and open to changing based on availability) : August 14, 2026 — Health Care: Personal Autonomy & Protecting Vulnerable Adults (seniors audience) August 28, 2026 — Wills & Estates (seniors audience) September 11, 2026 — Family Law Basics for Couples
Who we're looking for: Licensed lawyer or notary (member in good standing with their provincial bar/chambre) Comfortable presenting general legal information to a lay audience (this is public legal education, not individual legal advice) Strong communicator, patient with questions from non-legal audiences

About African Canadian Development & Prevention Network (ACDPN)
We believe that a strong, effective, and coordinated Black community-based response can better protect Black children, support families, and strengthen communities. Our vision is to be a resource to members of the Black community in the Greater Montreal Area through the development of a network of organizations, experts, and community members advocating for the healthy development and vitality of the Black community.
The African Canadian Development and Prevention Network (ACDPN) was founded in 2005 to provide leadership on topics of access to Health and Social services for members of the English-speaking Black community (ESBC) in Montreal. ACDPN fosters solidarity and inter-organizational collaboration across sectors that influence the health and wellness of the Black community. We aim to promote best practice prevention and social development strategies as we advocate for access to social, educational, and economic programs that are adapted culturally and linguistically to meet the needs of the members of our community.
Our Mission:
- Develop a network of organizations that can contribute to a thriving Black community;
- Facilitate organizational capacity building, joint planning and resource development;
- Promote healthy approaches and best practice prevention models;
- Advocate for improved access to services for the Black community that are adapted both culturally and linguistically;
- Promote and support the Strengthening of Black Families
