About the Role This is an intermediate-level Business Analyst role supporting end-to-end lease administration for a major energy infrastructure organization. The position sits within the real estate function and covers the full lease lifecycle, from renewals and amendments through to terminations, payments, and financial reporting, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and cross-functional coordination.
The ideal candidate brings four to nine years of experience in lease administration or a closely related real estate or business analysis function, holds a relevant university degree, and is comfortable working across accounting, legal, and operations teams. Hands-on experience with lease accounting standards (ASC 842) and lease management systems is a strong asset, and the ability to manage competing deadlines with a high degree of detail orientation is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the full lease lifecycle, including renewals, amendments, and terminations, ensuring all milestones and critical dates are tracked accurately
- Act as the liaison between internal business units, landlords, legal counsel, and other stakeholders throughout lease negotiations and document execution
- Coordinate the review, preparation, and execution of real estate documents, managing signature workflows and maintaining organized records
- Upload and maintain all lease data in PowerPlan, partnering with accounting teams to support lease accounting processes and ASC 842 compliance
- Process lease payments, perform payment reconciliations, and resolve discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner
- Manage subtenant rent payments and invoicing, ensuring revenue is captured and reported correctly
- Prepare rent reports and support budgeting cycles, including variance explanations for the 4-and-8 and 8-and-4 planning cycles
- Submit vendor setup and modification requests for real estate vendors and maintain accurate vendor records
Required Skills & Experience • 4 to 9 years of experience in lease administration, real estate, or a related business analysis function • University degree in a relevant discipline • Proficiency in English (native or bilingual) • Working knowledge of lease accounting standards, including ASC 842 • Experience with lease management or financial systems (PowerPlan experience is a plus) • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage critical dates, document workflows, and payment reconciliations simultaneously • Must be authorized to work in Canada (Canadian work authorization required)
Preferred Skills • Experience supporting cross-functional teams including accounting, legal, and operations • Familiarity with subtenant and sublease administration • Prior involvement in corporate real estate budgeting or financial reporting cycles
