Insurance Litigation | Personal Injury | Civil Litigation

Our firm is looking for a litigation associate with 4+ years of experience to join a growing insurance litigation, personal injury, and civil litigation practice.

This role is designed for a lawyer who wants meaningful litigation work, strong support, flexibility, and a more sustainable way to practice law.

The practice focuses on representing individuals and businesses in disputes with insurers, personal injury claims, and broader civil litigation matters. The work may include policyholder insurance disputes, property loss claims, coverage disputes, disability claims, life insurance disputes, personal injury litigation, professional negligence, broker negligence, commercial disputes, and other civil litigation matters.

The expected billable target is approximately 1,500 hours per year. The goal is to build a high-quality litigation practice where lawyers can do excellent work, serve clients well, and still have a life outside the office.

About the Role

The work will primarily involve:

Policyholder-side insurance litigation Personal injury litigation Civil litigation matters Insurance coverage disputes Property damage and loss claims Disability and life insurance disputes Professional negligence and broker negligence claims Commercial and contractual disputes Client-facing file management Drafting pleadings, applications, briefs, and correspondence Preparing for questioning, mediation, applications, and resolution strategy Working with paralegals and support staff to move files forward efficiently

There may also be opportunities to assist with select employment, defamation, commercial, or general litigation matters depending on experience and firm needs.

The ideal candidate does not need to be fully independent on every issue from day one, but should have enough litigation experience to take ownership of files, exercise sound judgment, communicate professionally, and move matters forward with appropriate support.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

4+ years of litigation experience Experience in insurance litigation, personal injury, civil litigation, commercial litigation, or another litigation practice area Strong drafting, analysis, and client communication skills Experience with questioning, applications, mediation, or litigation strategy Good judgment, professionalism, and a practical litigation mindset The ability to work independently while still enjoying a collegial team environment An interest in helping grow a litigation practice over time

Alberta litigation experience is strongly preferred, but hybrid and remote options are available for the right candidate.

Compensation

Compensation will be competitive and based on experience.
