Overview:
Our client within the energy industry is seeking a strong Senior Tax Manager to join their team.
Reporting to the Director, Tax, the Senior Manager, Tax will support Corporate tax reporting, compliance, tax risk management, and related advisory matters. The role will work closely with Tax, Finance, Legal, portfolio company teams, and external advisors to support Canadian and global tax initiatives.
This role offers a competitive compensation package including base salary of $140K-$155K+, bonus, retirement savings program, benefits program, and more. Key Responsibilities
Manage the quarterly tax provision process, including global consolidation, review, analysis, and reporting to internal stakeholders; Coordinate Corporate tax compliance matters with external advisors, including country-by-country reporting, CDS reporting, CRA audit queries, and Canadian transfer pricing documentation; Support portfolio company teams on Canadian tax risks and reporting requirements, including T1134 reporting, surplus computations, excluded property analysis, EIFEL compliance, and Pillar Two readiness; Assist with indirect tax matters for Corporate entities; Coordinate internal and external teams to ensure timely execution, documentation, and reporting of tax matters and transactions; Identify and implement improvements to tax processes, controls, reporting procedures, and automation opportunities; Monitor Canadian and international tax legislative developments and assess impacts; Support the Director, Tax on advisory matters, transactions, process improvement initiatives, and special projects as required.
Knowledge and Experience Required
CPA/CA designation with completed In-depth tax program or Masters of Taxation; 5–7 years of progressive Canadian tax experience, including experience at a national public accounting firm and/or relevant industry experience; Strong tax accounting experience is required; Experience with Canadian tax compliance, international tax reporting, foreign affiliate reporting, surplus computations, transfer pricing, EIFEL, and Pillar Two is considered an asset; Experience managing external advisors and interacting with the CRA or other government authorities is considered an asset; Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex tax concepts to internal stakeholders; Proactive, collaborative, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous learning and professional development.
