Grechi Carter Professional Corporation is a boutique real estate law firm based in Toronto, serving clients with a focus on private mortgages and related real estate matters.
We are looking for clerks and paralegals with at least 3+ years of experience in real estate, with a focus on private lending real estate transactions.
The Real Estate Law Clerk – Private Mortgages is a full-time, hybrid role based in Etobicoke, ON, with some flexibility for work from home. The law clerk will assist lawyers with all aspects of private mortgage transactions, including file opening, document preparation, title and off-title searches, and coordination with lenders, borrowers, and other law firms. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting and reviewing mortgage and security documents, preparing closing documents and reporting letters, and managing critical dates and conditions. The role also involves maintaining organized files, communicating with clients to gather required information, and ensuring all documentation complies with relevant legislation and firm procedures. The law clerk will support the smooth and timely completion of transactions, proactively address issues, and contribute to a high level of client service.
Qualifications
Experience as a real estate law clerk or in a similar role, with specific exposure to private mortgage transactions. Strong knowledge of Ontario real estate law, Land Titles and Registry systems, and standard mortgage documentation. Proficiency with real estate conveyancing and law office software (e.g., Teraview, PC Law or similar systems, MS Office). Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple files and meet tight deadlines. Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, lenders, and other professionals. High attention to detail and accuracy in document drafting, review, and data entry. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small-team environment, both in-office and remotely. Post-secondary education in Law Clerk studies, Legal Administration, or a related field; membership in a relevant professional association is an asset. Client-focused mindset, demonstrating discretion, confidentiality, and a compassionate approach to client service. Previous experience in a boutique or real estate-focused law firm is an asset.
