The Opportunity

Harfang IP is seeking an experienced Patent Licensing Counsel to support and expand our global licensing activities. This role is ideal for a lawyer with a strong foundation in intellectual property and commercial transactions, combined with an understanding of wireless communications technologies and standards-based licensing.

The successful candidate will play a central role in negotiating licensing agreements, developing licensing strategies, assessing patent assets, and supporting portfolio monetization initiatives worldwide.

Key Responsibilities Develop and execute patent licensing strategies for Harfang IP's wireless patent portfolio. Lead negotiations of patent license agreements, settlement agreements, NDAs, and related commercial transactions. Analyze potential licensing opportunities and identify prospective licensees. Assess patent portfolios, claim coverage, and licensing value propositions. Collaborate with technical experts to understand inventions, standards relevance, and patent strength. Support SEP licensing initiatives and FRAND-related activities. Conduct competitive, technical, and patent landscape analyses. Work with outside counsel on licensing, enforcement, and transactional matters. Support patent acquisitions, due diligence efforts, and strategic portfolio development. Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting patent licensing and standards-essential patents.

Required Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.), LL.B., or equivalent law degree. Licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction. Minimum 5 years of experience in intellectual property law, patent licensing, technology transactions, or related fields. Strong understanding of patent law and intellectual property licensing. Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements. Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills. Ability to work effectively in both legal and technical environments.

Preferred Qualifications Experience with patent licensing programs and monetization strategies. Knowledge of wireless communications technologies, including LTE, 5G NR, and emerging 6G technologies. Familiarity with 3GPP standards and the standards development process. Experience with standards-essential patents (SEPs) and FRAND licensing. Technical background in electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer engineering, or a related field. Experience supporting patent litigation, licensing disputes, or enforcement activities. Existing relationships within the wireless, semiconductor, consumer electronics, automotive, or IoT industries.
