About the role
The Department of Criminal Justice Training is pleased to announce the following job opportunity for, one (1) Investigator II position, within the Office of the State School Security Marshal (OSSSM) – School Safety Compliance Branch – East Section. (requisition number 25-06655). Applications will be accepted until 7 p.m. on November 9, 2025.
Requirement for the position: Whomever selected, will need to live and reside within regions 10 & 11. The OSSSM regions 10 & 11 consist of the following counties: Bell, Breathitt, Floyd, Harlan, Johnson, Knott, Knox, Lawrence, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin, Menifee, Morgan, Perry, Pike and Wolfe.

What To Expect When You Apply
Interested applicants must apply individually to each job opening for which they wish to compete. For consideration, applicants must complete a profile and application on the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet’s hiring website – MyPurpose. Upon successful completion of the application, each applicant will be notified by the MyPurpose website that their application has been successfully submitted. As an applicant, you will be assessed by the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet and DOCJT to determine suitability for the open position. Selected candidates will be notified and offered an interview by DOCJT. The hiring agency will then submit the top three applicants to the Division of Career Opportunities (DCO). The DCO reviews selected candidates to determine if all state personnel requirements have been met. DOCJT makes a job offer to the top candidate approved by the DCO. Applicants not selected during the process will be notified through the MyPurpose portal. Applicants not selected can reapply for any open position for which they qualify. The hiring process must be completed within 90 days.
About Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training
Located in Richmond, the Department of Criminal Justice Training is Kentucky’s state-of-the-art facility providing basic and advanced training for law enforcement officers and telecommunicators across the commonwealth. DOCJT attendees are immersed in developing essential skills, leadership and knowledge through continually updated curriculum. Training materials are overseen by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council to meet the Kentucky Peace Officer Professional Standards, as mandated by state statutes. DOCJT furnishes officers with tactical best practices, latest technology training and information to protect the diverse communities they serve. Critical training is also provided for court security officers, coroners, and other state and federal law enforcement agencies.
The Law Enforcement Basic Training Academy provides training for peace officer recruits throughout the state, only excluding Louisville Metro Police Department, Lexington Police Department, Bowling Green Police Department and the Kentucky State Police, which each have independent academies. Additionally, DOCJT provides more than 200 in-service classes covering approximately 90 course areas to all law enforcement and telecommunications agencies within the state.
