YOUR DAY TO DAY:
The Senior Manager, Logistics, Customs & Trade Compliance is responsible for enterprise-level leadership and oversight of global logistics operations, customs administration, tariff classification, and export/import compliance. This role ensures efficient, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods globally while serving as the organization’s senior authority on trade-related regulatory matters.
YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Develop and implement the strategic vision for logistics, customs, and trade compliance functions.
- Establish governance frameworks, policies, and controls ensuring compliance with Canadian, U.S., and international trade regulations.
- Provide executive-level guidance to cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
Customs & Regulatory Compliance
- Oversee compliance with CBSA, US‑CBP, and global customs regulations.
- Manage tariff classification, importer of record (IOR) responsibilities, and customs verification activities.
- Ensure compliance with FTA programs and oversee certificate-of-origin processes.
- Maintain oversight of C‑TPAT requirements and international security programs.
Export Controls & Trade Compliance
- Provide executive oversight of export controls including EIPA, ECL, ACL, SEMA, EAR, ITAR, and OFAC.
- Oversee licensing, permits, exemptions, and due diligence activities.
- Ensure organization-wide compliance with restricted-party screening processes.
- Serve as a key liaison to government agencies regarding export and sanctions requirements.
Logistics & Transportation Management
- Oversee domestic and international transportation strategies across air, ocean, ground, and courier modes.
- Negotiate high-value contracts with carriers, brokers, and freight forwarders.
- Optimize transportation costs, service levels, and shipping performance.
Process Optimization & Risk Management
- Develop and enforce internal controls to minimize compliance risks.
- Oversee internal audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement programs.
- Provide leadership for digital transformation initiatives in logistics and trade compliance.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of logistics and trade compliance professionals.
- Collaborate with supply chain, engineering, finance, and operations leaders to resolve escalated issues.
YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in logistics, customs, and trade compliance.
- Strong understanding of Canadian and U.S. export control regulations and customs laws.
- Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams and enterprise programs.
- Professional certifications (CITT, CCS, CTCS, etc.) considered strong assets.
- Must be able to meet CGP requirements
