Business Development Manager - Strategic Partnerships, for longstanding, well regarded boutique personal injury firm client, North York.
Marberg Job Number: 2878. Job Type: Full Time Permanent Existing Vacancy: Yes. Compensation: From $80,000 to $100,000 per annum plus benefits, RRSP plan and additional incentives. Additional Benefits: Mileage reimbursement and approved business expenses provided in accordance with firm policy. Regular Work Hours: 35 hours per week, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening or weekend events, according to business requirements. Work Location: Primarily field-based position with frequent travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Combination of office work, client visits, networking events, presentations, and community meetings. Travel Requirements: Occasional overnight or out-of-province travel, according to business requirements.
Responsibilities Summary: Develop and grow strategic referral partnerships with healthcare providers, rehabilitation clinics, employers, unions, insurance professionals, and community organizations throughout the Greater Toronto Area. This relationship-focused role builds awareness of the firm's personal injury legal services through networking, community engagement, and long-term partnership development. Success is measured by the growth of referral partnerships, referral activity, and the achievement of business development objectives.
Business Development & Relationship Management Develop and execute strategies to build and grow referral partnerships. Establish and maintain relationships with medical and rehabilitation clinics, healthcare professionals, insurance industry contacts, unions, employers, community organizations, and other professional referral sources. Conduct regular in-person meetings, networking activities, presentations, and follow-up to strengthen referral relationships. Identify opportunities to expand the firm's presence within the community and target markets.
Marketing & Community Engagement Represent the firm at networking events, conferences, trade shows, and community initiatives. Coordinate educational presentations and outreach programs. Support marketing campaigns, sponsorships, seminars, and community partnerships that enhance the firm's visibility.
Referral & Client Management Respond promptly to referral inquiries and ensure an exceptional experience for referral partners. Coordinate introductions between prospective clients and lawyers. Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular reports on business development activities and referral growth.
Market Development Monitor trends within the legal, healthcare, and insurance sectors. Identify new partnership opportunities and provide recommendations to support the firm's growth. Additional business and strategic partnerships development responsibilities, initiatives and advisory services as required.
Qualifications: Education: Diploma or Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Healthcare Administration, or related discipline. Preferred Work Experience: At least 3+ years of progressive experience in business development, account management, relationship management, outside sales, or professional services marketing. Preferred Sector Experience: Experience working within legal services, healthcare, insurance, rehabilitation, or another professional services environment is strongly preferred.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM software applications. Expert Level English language skills including advanced business writing skills, polished, professional conversational skills, and verbal presentation skills suitable for a diverse range of audiences including senior leadership. Verbal fluency in additional language(s) an asset.
Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes: Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character. Responsible, reliable and works to deadlines. Experience developing relationships with healthcare providers, rehabilitation clinics, insurance professionals, unions, employers, community organizations, professional associations, or other referral partners. Demonstrated success building referral relationships and strategic partnerships. Track record of successful professional relationship building, networking and community engagement. Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information and exercise good judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy. Demonstrated project team leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and engage with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders, at all levels of seniority. Exceptional relationship management skills including client and vendor relations management, business networking, negotiation, change management and consulting/advisory skills. Demonstrated ability to apply project management principles, methodologies and best practices. Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and collaboratively, and in an advisory capacity, and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of professional contacts. Demonstrated successful experience of prioritizing work, making decisions and communicating with others within a values framework of respect, equity, anti-racism, diversity and inclusivity.
Additional Requirements: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request. Valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle. Ability to work both remotely, in the field, and onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies. Ability to promptly provide recent, qualified employment references upon request who are available to speak with either Marberg or Marberg's client. Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of position responsibilities. Satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, Interpersonal Skills Assessment, and Employment References as required.
