Senior Level
CONTRACTOR

About the role

Mineral / Surface Land Administrator - 3 month contract to start.

MVP Talent Corp, a leading Search Agency, is seeking an experienced Senior Mineral and Land Administrator to join our Legal Team on a 3-month contract basis. There may be an opportunity to extend the contract. This role is well suited to a highly organized, detail-oriented land administration professional with significant oil and gas experience and a strong working knowledge of Alberta land, mineral, surface and related contract administration.

The successful candidate will support the management and maintenance of land records, lease obligations, and land administration systems. This includes updating land management systems, administering payments under leases and land-related contracts, communicating with lessors and other stakeholders, and helping improve internal land administration processes. There are some physical files that may have to be digitized or referred to in order to gather missing information. There is likely a process automation opportunity here.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior land administrator who is comfortable working independently, managing complex land files, and supporting a legal and commercial team in a fast-paced energy infrastructure environment.

Key Responsibilities Update and maintain CS Explorer or other land management systems relating to surface, mineral and storage lease holdings, as well as other land-related contracts in Alberta. Maintain accurate and complete land records, lease data, payment information, and supporting documentation. Communicate directly with lessors, land contract counterparties and other stakeholders by letter, email, and telephone. Manage and oversee, in coordination with accounting and treasury teams, the payment of lease rentals, extension payments and other payments required under leases and land-related contracts. Review land files and contract records to identify missing information, upcoming obligations, payment requirements, and process gaps. Support the Legal Team in organizing, validating and improving land file systems and related administrative processes. Assist with the development, documentation and implementation of improved processes for land administration and lease obligation tracking.

Qualifications and Experience 8+ years of land administration experience within the oil and gas sector. Strong working knowledge of Alberta land administration practices, including surface, mineral and lease administration. Experience with freehold leases is preferred. Proficiency with CS Explorer or similar land management software. Relevant post-secondary education, land administration training, or certification is considered an asset. Strong understanding of lease payments, rental obligations, extension payments, and the contract administration processes. Exceptional organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and identify practical solutions to administrative or process issues. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a senior land administration professional with deep Alberta oil and gas experience, strong technical proficiency in land systems, and the confidence to step into a contract role and add value quickly. You are meticulous with records, proactive in identifying areas for process improvement or automation, and comfortable working with legal, accounting, treasury and external stakeholders to ensure land-related obligations are properly managed.
