About the role
Tax Manager | $120,000–$150,000 | Toronto (Hybrid)
Clients rarely come to a tax advisor because everything is going smoothly.
They usually arrive with a transaction, a reorganization, a succession question or a piece of legislation that seems determined not to be understood.
What they need is clarity.
This established mid-sized Toronto CPA firm is looking for a Tax Manager to work with private companies, owner-managed businesses and their shareholders across Canadian tax compliance, planning and advisory. You’ll join a technically strong tax group with access to complex work, experienced partners and clients who expect practical advice rather than a recital of the Income Tax Act.
Why this role stands out:
Salary of $120,000–$150,000, plus bonus Hybrid working with two days per week in the office Broad exposure across Canadian tax compliance, planning and advisory Work involving reorganizations, transactions and succession planning Direct access to Tax Partners and senior decision-makers Opportunity to manage meaningful client relationships Exposure to private companies and owner-managed businesses across varied industries Established mid-sized CPA firm with a strong technical reputation Clear progression toward Senior Manager and potentially Partner
What you’ll do:
Manage complex Canadian tax compliance and advisory engagements Review corporate, personal and trust tax returns Advise clients on reorganizations, transactions and tax-planning opportunities Research technical tax matters and prepare clear, practical memoranda Identify and resolve complex tax issues and potential risks Work closely with partners on client strategy and planning Mentor, coach and review the work of junior tax professionals Strengthen existing client relationships and identify opportunities to provide further support
What they’re looking for:
5+ years of Canadian CPA firm tax experience CPA designation Strong corporate, personal and trust tax knowledge Experience with tax planning, reorganizations or transactions Completion or pursuit of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program or MTax would be an asset Previous experience reviewing work and mentoring junior staff Strong research, communication and client-advisory skills Canadian CPA firm experience is required
Tax legislation may be complicated.
Your advice shouldn’t be.
