4 days per week in office – Montréal
Norton Rose Fulbright is seeking a lawyer to join the Employment and Labour Law team at its Montreal office.
Our national employment and labour team, with more than 80 lawyers across Canada, represents employers in both the private and public sectors nationwide. The team is based in six key Canadian markets: Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City. The team regularly advises on provincial matters as well as leading cases at the federal level. In jurisdictions where the judicial language is both English and French, we provide practical advice and legal representation before the courts, and quasi-judicial and administrative tribunals, in both of Canada’s official languages.
The Role
As a member of this practice group, the successful candidate will be required to draft opinions and arguments, provide advice on various employment and labour law issues, and plead before the various courts.
Skills and Experience Required
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience representing clients in employment and labour law;
- Have experience in workers' compensation, occupational health and safety, employment standards, employment contracts, grievance arbitration and human rights law;
- Have advocacy experience;
- Demonstrate business acumen and an ability to build and maintain lasting trust-based relationships with clients and the team;
- Ability to effectively manage multiple files, meet tight deadlines and re-evaluate priorities as needed;
- Ability to work under pressure while demonstrating professionalism and good stress management;
- Possess excellent communication, analytical, synthesis, and organizational skills;
- Demonstrate autonomy, initiative, thoroughness and a strong attention to detail;
- Fluency in French and English, both oral and written.
