Job summary
A respected BC regulatory body is looking for a corporate commercial lawyer to step in as Associate General Counsel for a 12-month contract. The role: This is a broad, senior in-house mandate. You will be advising across the full corporate legal function - contracts, procurement, governance, privacy, HR, and board-level strategy. No two weeks look the same and the work carries real complexity and variety. What you will be working on: Major vendor contract negotiations Privacy law and FOIPPA compliance Corporate governance and board committee advice MOU negotiations with other regulatory bodies HR matters including employment agreements and sensitive terminations Strategic legal advice to senior leadership Why this role: Senior mandate with real autonomy from day one Genuine breadth across corporate law, privacy, governance, procurement, and HR Collaborative, humble culture with excellent work-life balance Genuine 9 to 5 - this is not a role where you are expected to be available around the clock Hybrid working arrangement - 5 days in office per 10 Strong compensation up to $227k, benchmarked above market The ideal candidate: Corporate commercial lawyer with a strong foundation in drafting and negotiating contracts Motivated by public interest work Humble, hands-on, and able to hit the ground running Open to candidates at varying levels of experience with strong contract drafting and negotiation fundamentals If interested, apply through LinkedIn or reach out directly to [email protected].
