Reporting directly to the Legal VP for Canada, you will take responsibility for managing internal clients from various business units in a range of areas including; commercial, consumer reporting, regulatory, privacy, marketing, IP/IT and contract drafting. What You’ll Do:
Negotiate, review, evaluate and comment on contracts and other obligations and advise internal partners on the degree of risk assigned with such obligations before they are entered into
You will Provide day-to-day legal advice and guidance to all business and support business units on a variety matters including, but not limited to: sales, privacy, advertising/marketing, operations, consumer relations, procurement, contracts, compliance, technology, corporate policies, procedures, strategies and initiatives, including new product/service creation and development
Collaborate with local and international colleagues in the areas of legal, security, compliance to ensure risk identification and management
You will proactively advise business units with respect to compliance regime, including identifying, mitigating and monitoring reputational risk by drafting, implementing and monitoring local policies
Act as a trusted advisor to enable Equifax to deliver on strategic objectives
5+ years’ related legal experience with an- LLB or JD and called to the Ontario bar in good standing
Experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of business contracts at either a top tier firm or large company/organization
Bilingual English and French
You possess sound business judgment and extraordinary analytical and contractual skills
Ability to provide practical legal advice, risk assessment and creative solutions to business and legal problems
Extra Points for any of the Following
You have previously had an in-house position in financial services or credit reporting industry
7+ years’ related legal experience
