Job Description:

We’re seeking a skilled legal real estate lawyer to join our team. The Real Estate Counsel will operate in a fast paced and dynamic work environment providing legal support to Bell Canada and its subsidiaries, across Canada and several lines of business. Based at our downtown Toronto office, this role will collaborate closely with other Bell team members. The successful candidate will provide legal support various parts of Bell’s and its subsidiaries’ operations.

Job Duties/ Accountabilities:

The successful candidate will have responsibilities in the following areas:

  • Conduct detailed due diligence, and inspect title examination, and legal documents for legal risk, completion, and accuracy
  • Draft and review leases, licences, easements and other real estate agreements
  • Negotiate real estate transaction terms and conditions. advise and support business with real estate disputes
  • Other varied legal support functions as may arise in a large publicly traded telecommunications enterprise

Qualifications/ Competencies:

  • Completion of accredited law school
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a residential or commercial real estate lawyer, as a transactional attorney, or as corporate counsel for a real estate development firm
  • Working knowledge of, land use, business law, property management, and residential and commercial real estate law
  • Exceptional negotiation, research, networking, and communication skills
  • The ability to work independently on multiple files and prioritize them effectively while meeting deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication, and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong team player who enjoys working with multidisciplinary business groups in a dynamic environment to resolve a broad range of legal issues
  • Self-motivated, creative and results oriented
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to manage difficult issues in a professional, assertive and proactive manner
