Planning and Litigation Practice
This challenging position within Markham's Legal Services Department would be an exciting career opportunity for an experienced self-starter who can work independently in a collegial environment, and enjoys taking on added responsibilities in an evolving role.
Reporting to the City Solicitor, you will provide a full range of legal services to the Corporation, with an emphasis on planning and development law. This will include providing advice to City departments and preparing reports to Council on complex development issues related to roads, servicing parkland, etc., negotiating and drafting a wide variety of agreements related to development and construction, and the review of zoning and other by-laws. As an Assistant City Solicitor, you will also represent the City at the Ontario Municipal Board, Conservation Review Board hearings and other litigation, particularly in relation to construction and development.
