About the role:

The Compliance Manager manages implementation and maintenance of Compliance and Data Privacy programs, which includes the development and completion of company-wide training and awareness, assessments, and appropriate reporting. The Manager should demonstrate unquestionable ethics and provide support to colleagues in the Canadian and Regional teams, representing the department and Allianz in a professional manner at all times both internally and externally.

This role is a contract position (approximately 18 months).

You are great at:

Managing the day to day operations of the Department, including implementing, managing and communicating various Compliance programs.

  • Developing, enhancing and implementing compliance programs to include planning, communications, education, tracking, analyses, documentation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with management and associates at the local and Regional level, to effectively execute the compliance framework and strategies.
  • Continuously propose and implement changes to existing compliance systems and processes in order to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Fulfilling the role of Data Privacy Professional (DPP) and assisting the Regional Data Privacy Officer in the implementation and maintenance of a robust Privacy program.
  • Acting as a key contact for local data Privacy regulatory and other enquiries
  • Presenting to local management on status of data privacy and protection compliance.
  • Conducting research and analysis on existing and upcoming changes to all applicable regulations, summarizing for internal communication, and suggesting necessary enhancements or changes to internal processes and procedures.
  • Effectively maintaining and enhancing the secondary control plan and providing oversight of various programs from a Compliance perspective.
  • Collaborating with internal and external partners, representing the Compliance team in a professional, effective, and knowledgeable manner.
  • Providing leadership and help mentoring and coaching Compliance staff, and cultivating a professional, high-performance and client-focused work environment.
  • Supporting the Canadian and Regional Compliance and Privacy teams with other responsibilities as required.

What it takes:

  • University degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in compliance or comparable functions. A Legal background is preferred.
  • Ability to work with and keep confidential sensitive materials, situations and people.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to their completion, working on own initiative with stakeholder awareness and approvals.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead people, get results through others and provide coaching/constructive feedback.
