Job summary MLT Aikins is in search of a Corporate/Commercial Legal Assistant with experience in a general corporate/commercial practice. The ideal candidate will have good practical training and experience from working in a busy corporate/commercial practice and will have graduated from an accredited legal program (equivalencies will be considered). Candidates must be self-motivated and be able to multi-task and prioritize workload, pay attention to detail and have excellent organization, communication and written skills. Responsibilities include: * Performing complex editing and formatting for correspondence and documents * Preparing various administrative tasks including file opening, billing and follow-up to review outstanding accounts * Maintaining an efficient file system (physical and electronic files) * Completing, monitoring and following up on all post-closing documents * Performing day-to-day administrative tasks including file organization, diarizations, booking appointments and maintaining calendars Qualifications include: * Graduate of a recognized legal assistant or paralegal program (equivalencies may be considered) * Five years of experience in any law practice area; experience in a corporate/commercial practice would be an asset * Advanced computer skills including in Word, Excel, Outlook and document management software * Excellent verbal and written communication skills including proofreading, spelling and grammar skills * Strong organization skills and exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines * Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision and thrive in a fast-paced, professional team environment * A client-focused approach and commitment to providing exceptional service to internal and external clients We offer: * Competitive salary including individual performance bonus * Flexible benefit plans for dental, health and wellness benefits * Access to group savings plans and investment options * Earned Days Off Program * Growth and development opportunities * Mentorship and support * Ongoing job-specific training and opportunities for professional development * A positive and inclusive work environment Our diversity statement MLT Aikins is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to building an inclusive and diverse work environment.
