Lak Law Firm Professional Corporation is a boutique law firm located in Thornhill, Ontario, with a strong focus on real estate, corporate, and wills and estates law. We are seeking an experienced lawyer to join our team. The successful candidate must be able to independently manage files from start to finish, provide practical legal advice to clients, and work confidently with minimal supervision. Areas of Practice The successful candidate will have experience in: Residential Real Estate Corporate Law Wills & Estates Experience and knowledge in Family Law is considered an asset. Key Responsibilities Real Estate Independently manage residential real estate transactions from retainer through closing Handle purchases, sales, refinances, transfers, private mortgages and related transactions Review Agreements of Purchase and Sale and identify legal and transactional issues Conduct title searches and review title, instruments, requisitions and related documents Prepare and review closing documents and statements of adjustments Communicate directly with clients, lenders, mortgage brokers, realtors and other lawyers Resolve title and closing issues independently Corporate Independently manage corporate transactions and files Handle incorporations, corporate reorganizations, share transactions and corporate changes Prepare and review corporate resolutions, registers, share issuances and related documentation Advise business owners and clients on routine corporate matters Manage corporate files from opening through completion Wills & Estates Independently prepare wills and powers of attorney Meet with clients and provide practical estate-planning advice Prepare and review estate-planning documentation Handle estate administration matters and related documentation Communicate effectively with estate trustees, beneficiaries and other professionals General Responsibilities Take carriage of files with minimal supervision Meet deadlines and manage competing priorities effectively Communicate professionally and promptly with clients and other professionals Provide practical and commercially minded legal advice Maintain accurate and organized client files Work collaboratively with lawyers and support staff Ensure compliance with Law Society requirements and firm policies Qualifications Called to the Ontario Bar and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario Minimum 2–4 years of relevant post-call experience Demonstrated ability to independently manage files from beginning to completion Strong experience in residential real estate, corporate law, and wills/estates Family Law experience is an asset Excellent legal drafting and communication skills Strong organizational and time-management skills Excellent attention to detail Ability to work independently and take ownership of files Professional, client-focused and responsive Experience with Clio Manage is an asset What We Are Looking For We are looking for a lawyer who is capable of taking carriage of files and managing clients independently, rather than requiring significant supervision or support from another lawyer. The ideal candidate is confident conducting client meetings, providing legal advice, drafting documents, identifying issues, and finding practical solutions independently. Compensation Salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Requirements

Strong experience in residential real estate, corporate law, and wills and estates, along with excellent drafting, communication, organization, and attention to detail, is required; family law experience and Clio Manage experience are assets.
