Some travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes may be necessary in accordance with job requirements. Job Description Review and prepare responses on documents received by regulators on compliance issues related to City landfill operations Maintain data bases related to information and track analytical results associated with compliance requirements including the coordination and support of ongoing and new waste diversion activities Assist with the development and amendment of Standard Operating Procedures and By-Laws relating to waste management Inspect landfill sites both open and closed to ensure they are in compliance with all pertinent approvals and, regulation and legislation Assist with training, advising and guiding other departmental staff in performance of tasks and duties relating to monitoring activity and compliance auditing Prepare quotes and other requests for services related to annual reports and other documents or studies Act as staff resource person to landfill public participation committees Assist in preparation of approval or amendment applications Receive and coordinate the response to applications Provide input to the development of the divisional budget Perform other related duties as assigned Skills/Education Required Post-secondary diploma in Environmental Technology or a related field Minimum 5 years of related progressive experience, preferably in a municipal environment Must have or be eligible for the OACETT designation (Ontario Association of Certified Technicians and Technologists) Experience in landfill operations and compliance management and auditing services Demonstrated professional and ethical responsibility to protect privacy, use confidential information appropriately, treat sensitive situations with appropriate degree of tact and discretion Demonstrated customer-service and interpersonal skills at a level to develop and to maintain cooperative/collaborative working relationships both within and outside the organization Excellent time-management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines, and the ability to deal with multiple demands Excellent written communication skills with attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment Ability to demonstrate initiative consistently with commitment to quality improvement, sharing process improvement initiatives with management Demonstrated ability to understand and abide by municipal policies and procedures Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet, and any other related software Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check will be required Applicants must be prepared for skill testing.

Requirements
Requires a post-secondary diploma in Environmental Technology and at least 5 years of progressive experience, preferably in a municipal setting. Candidates must be eligible for the OACETT designation and possess a valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence.
